Note: This article is only applicable to paying users who have an active subscription to Marking.ai.
🧘♀️ Why Pause Your Subscription?
We know that marking workloads come and go throughout the school year. Whether it’s the term break, exam season is over, or you’re simply having a quieter period — you may not need Marking.ai all the time.
That’s why we’ve made it easy to pause your subscription whenever you need to take a break. No cancellation, no fuss — just pick back up when you’re ready.
⚙️ How to Pause Your Subscription
Follow these steps to pause your subscription:
- Go to your Settings
- Click on the ‘Plans and Billing’ tab
- If you have an active subscription, you’ll see a tile showing your current plan
- Click ‘Manage Plan’
- A pop-up window will appear — here you can select ‘Pause Subscription’
- Choose the duration you’d like to pause for, and provide a brief reason
- Confirm your selection
Once paused, you’ll receive an in-app notification confirming that your subscription is paused and displaying the date it will resume.
🔄 Can I Unpause Early?
Yes! You can unpause your subscription at any time.
Just revisit the same ‘Manage Plan’ section and select ‘Unpause’. Your original plan will be reactivated immediately, and you’ll be able to continue using all Marking.ai features straight away.

💰 When do I stop getting billed if I pause my subscription?
You will stop being billed immediately after pausing.
If you pause partway through your billing cycle, you won’t be charged again until you unpause.
💳 When do I get billed when I unpause my subscription?
You’ll be charged as soon as you unpause, and a new billing cycle will begin from that date.
🔐 Do I lose my data when I pause my subscription?
No — your account and data are fully retained while your subscription is paused. You’ll pick up exactly where you left off when you return.
📅 Can I set a custom resume date?
No - at this point you can select to pause for 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or indefinitely.
