Sharing your marked assessments
Once you’ve reviewed your student submission, you can download a consolidated report of the entire assessment to keep it for your own records or share it with your student. There are numerous ways to do this:
- Generate a google doc
- Export your data as CSV
- Use the share link URL
We will cover all of those options in this article.
Option 1 - Generating Google Doc(s)(s
Google docs are a common method for sharing feedback from an assessment with your students, especially if your institution uses the google suite.
You can generate individual google docs for each student on the ‘Mark details’ page, or you can generate google docs in bulk from the ‘Marks and submissions’ page.
Generating docs in bulk
When you’re on the Marks and submissions page, you will see a small checkbox next to each submission. Either click the checkbox at the top to select all submissions, or check each submission individually for the submissions that you want to complete bulk actions on.

Once selected, you will see how many submissions are selected, as well as an option to ‘Generate feedback report’.
Click the button and the report generation will start instantly, with a notification in the top right of your screen.

You will see a small loader on the right hand side next to the submission whilst your feedback report is being generated.

Once generated, the loader will turn into a doc icon. Click on the doc icon to open the feedback report in google docs.

Your feedback report will open as a Google document, so you can edit your feedback report before sharing it with your students.
The feedback report contains:
-The title of the assessment
-The student’s name
-The overall mark and percentage
-The mark, feedback and justification for each question

You can also generate reports from within the mark details screen for that student submission. Simply click the ‘Turn into google doc’ button at the top of the screen.

Options 2 - Exporting data
Another option for viewing and sharing data outside of Marking.ai is to use the export feature. From within the Marks and submissions page, click the ‘Export’ button at the top of the page.

Once clicked, a modal will appear whereby you will be able to choose the data format that you export.

What do these mean?
- All submissions - export all the data from all the submissions in your account. This includes mark data only, as opposed to feedback etc.
- Submissions for class - same as above, but only for a specific assessment. Select the assessment from the dropdown.
- Answers, marks and feedback for class - this is for a specific assessment, but contains the detailed breakdown, including feedback and AI justification, for each student, for each answer, within the assessment.
Once you’ve selected the export type that you want, click the ‘Export’ button and your export will start immediately.
Option 3 - Share feature
An extremely useful option for sharing feedback with students is the share feature. This provides each student with a unique URL that they can copy into their browser (or click a hyperlink) and view all the feedback from their submission, all within a neat-looking, easy to use interface.
In order to generate and copy the URL, navigate to the ‘Mark details’ page for that student’s submission. This can be accessed from the Marks and submissions page - read this article to learn more about the mark details page.

Once you’re viewing the mark details for a student’s submission, click on the Share button on the top right. A notification will appear telling you that the sharable URL for that submission has been copied to your clipboard.

Copy this URL to wherever you share feedback with your students. This could be in an email, via SMS or on your institution’s learning management system (LMS).
When the student pastes the link into their browser, they will see a version of the mark details interface specifically tailored to them. The student will be able to see:
- Their overall mark for the assessment
- A list of the questions in their assessment, with a mark breakdown for each question
- The main interface with the question text, feedback and AI justification

The URL is only accessible if it has been generated by you. For example, students cannot paste on URLs with random submission ids to view other student’s assessments.
