๐ How to Use the Insights Feature on Marking.ai
The new Insights feature is your go-to hub for real-time, detailed analysis of student and class performance across any assessment. Whether youโre tracking an individual studentโs progress or analysing trends across your whole class, the Insights page provides the data you need to make informed decisions quickly and easily.
๐ Getting Started with Insights
To access insights, navigate to the Insights tab from your Marking.ai dashboard.

Step 1: Apply Filters
Before you can view performance data, youโll need to set your filters. Choose from:
- Individual Student โ See how a specific student is performing.
- Assessment โ View class-wide analytics for a particular assessment.
- Or Both โ Drill down to see how a specific student performed on a specific assessment.

๐ Student Performance Insights
Once youโve selected a student, hereโs what you can see:
- ๐ Total Marks: The studentโs overall mark across one or more assessments.
- ๐ Class Ranking: See where the student ranks in comparison to their peers.
- ๐ Student Average vs Class Average: A side-by-side look at individual performance versus the cohort.
- ๐ Question Breakdown: Detailed scores for each question on the selected assessment(s), showing exactly where the student excelled or struggled.

๐ง Class-Level Assessment Insights
When analysing an entire assessment, the Insights page reveals:
- ๐ Number of Submissions: Track how many students have submitted the assessment.
- โ Skipped Questions: Identify how many and which questions students frequently skip.
- ๐ Class Average: Instantly see the average score for the entire group.
- ๐ Top & Bottom Students: Highlight high and low performers to guide differentiated instruction.
- ๐งพ Student Marks View: See every studentโs mark on a single, easy-to-scan table.
- ๐ Question-Level Averages: Discover which questions were easiest or hardest for the class based on average scores.
