If you’re uploading a brand new task that has not been used before:

  1. Select “New assessment”.
  2. You’ll be prompted to upload the assessment in PDF format only.

Tip: If your file isn’t in PDF format yet, you can use a free PDF converter tool or try apps like CamScanner to scan and convert images to PDF.

  3. Optional: Add any Advanced Customisation instructions you’d like the AI to follow (e.g., clarify rubrics, specific marking criteria, or focus areas).

♻️ Option 2: Use an Existing Assessment

If you’ve marked this assessment before and it was successfully processed:

  1. Select “Existing assessment”.
  2. Choose the assessment from the dropdown list of previously uploaded ones.

✅ Best Practice Tip: Reusing an existing assessment ensures marking consistency, as the same marking guides and question structure will be used across all student submissions.

    • If your student’s submissions are individual PDF documents, select ‘class in separate PDFs’, drag and drop up to 20 submissions into the upload area, or
    • Click “Click to upload” to browse and select your files manually.
    • If you’re entire class’ submissions are in a single PDF file, select ‘Entire class in one PDF’ and upload the single PDF file. Marking.ai will automatically split each individual student’s submission and start the batch marking process.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • You can only upload one assessment at a time.
  • All files must be in PDF format.
  • Uploading more than 20 submissions in one batch is not supported—break them into smaller batches if needed.
  • Clicking Cancel or the ‘X’ at the top right of the popup will discard all uploads, so double-check before closing!
