Deleting an assessment
Sometimes you’ll need to remove an assessment entirely — a duplicate, a test setup you don’t need, or an end-of-year clean-up. This article walks through deleting one safely.
How to delete an assessment
- Open the assessment (or find it in your Assessments list).
- Open the assessment’s actions menu.
- Click Delete assessment.
- Confirm in the dialog.
The assessment is removed from your Assessments list immediately.
What gets deleted
Deleting an assessment removes everything attached to it:
- The assessment paper and marking guide files
- All submissions for the assessment
- All marks and feedback for those submissions
- All share links for those submissions (they stop working immediately)
- The insights data for the assessment
What stays
Deleting an assessment doesn’t affect:
- Your student records (they’re separate — see Editing, merging, and archiving students)
- Other assessments
- Your plan, balance, or subscription
Important: deletion is permanent
There’s no undo. Before deleting:
- Download anything you need to keep — see Exporting class data and marks (CSV) and Exporting a class summary
- Make sure share links can be revoked — they’ll stop working after deletion
If you’re not sure you want to delete, consider whether an end-of-year archive (in your own records) makes more sense — we don’t currently have an “archive assessment” feature, so backups are the workaround.

FAQs
Will deleting an assessment refund the submissions I used?
No — submissions you’ve already marked are spent. Deleting the assessment doesn’t return them.
What happens to student records linked to the deleted assessment?
The student records stay — only the assessment-specific submissions and marks are removed. Other assessments those students are in are unaffected.
Can I bulk-delete assessments?
Not today — deletion is one at a time. If you have lots to clear, drop us a line.
