The student detail page
Every student in Marking.ai has their own detail page. It’s where you see who they are, what they’ve done, and how their marks are trending over time.
This article walks through what’s on the page.
Getting there
There are a few ways:
- Click any student name in the Students list
- Click a linked student name in a submissions table
- Ask Marko — “show me Alice Johnson”
The two tabs
The student detail page has two tabs at the top: Overview and Assessments.
Overview tab
The default view, with:
- Identity — the student’s name, year, classes, email (if set), and student ID (if set)
- A summary card — their average mark, their most recent mark, and a trend arrow (up, flat, or down)
- A performance chart — a line showing their marks across recent assessments, so you can see the trend at a glance
The chart is most useful when the student has marks across multiple assessments in the same subject. If you teach the student across different subjects, you can filter the view by subject for a cleaner read.
Assessments tab
A list of every assessment the student has a submission for. Each row shows:
- The assessment title
- Their mark and percentage
- The date marked
- A link straight to that submission’s Mark details workspace
Click any row to jump to that submission.
Editing the student
Use the actions menu on the student detail page to:
- Edit student — change their name, year, classes, email, or student ID
- Merge with another student — useful if you’ve accidentally created a duplicate
- Archive student — hide them from the main list at end of year

FAQs
Why does the trend arrow say “flat” when their mark went up a bit?
Small changes between marks are treated as flat to avoid over-interpreting noise. The arrow only moves when the change is clearly above or below the recent average.
Can I see a student’s progress over time?
Yes — the chart on the Overview tab is the easiest place. For deeper trends across many assessments, ask Marko — see Comparing assessments and finding patterns with Marko.
What happens to a student’s data when I archive them?
Nothing is deleted — their submissions and marks all stay. They just don’t appear in the active Students list. Unarchive them at any time to bring them back.
