Choosing the right plan

Marking.ai offers a few plans, each pitched at a different level of marking volume. This article gives you the overview so you can pick the one that fits.

The plans at a glance

There are three solo plans plus a School plan:

Starter

For light marking volumes — a few classes, occasional assessments. Includes the full feature set, a small monthly allowance of submissions, and the lowest monthly price.

Pro

The most popular plan for individual teachers. A larger monthly submission allowance, full features. Best fit if you’re marking regularly across several classes.

Plus

For heavier markers — heads of department, tutors with several classes, or teachers running mock-exam season. Higher submission allowance, full features.

School

For whole departments or schools. Sales-led, with a pooled annual allowance shared across multiple teachers, plus admin tools for managing your workspace. See Getting a school quote and School plans: how they work.

Comparing

The easiest way to compare is in the app:

  1. Open Settings → Billing.
  2. Click Choose a plan (or the plan picker on your cap-reached prompt).
  3. The plan picker shows each plan side by side, with included submissions and price.

How to pick

Three questions to ask yourself:

  • How many students do you mark each month? If it’s under 50, Starter is probably enough. 50–200, Pro. 200+, Plus.
  • Are you the only one marking, or do colleagues use Marking.ai too? Solo → Starter/Pro/Plus. Team or whole department → School.
  • Do you have ad-hoc spikes (mock season, end of term)? A Pro plan plus the occasional top-up usually works well.

What all paid plans include

Every paid plan gets the full Marking.ai feature surface:

  • AI marking
  • Marko, your AI assistant
  • Insights (class, question, misconceptions)
  • Sharing (individual + bulk)
  • Exports (PDF + CSV)
  • Branding
  • Customisation

The difference is submission volume, not features.

FAQs

Can I switch plans later?

Yes — upgrade or downgrade any time from Settings → Billing. See Upgrading or downgrading your plan.

What if I only need a few submissions, very occasionally?

A top-up pack might fit better than a monthly plan. See Top-up packs. Note: top-ups alone don’t unlock the AI assistant and class summaries — those need an active subscription.

Are there annual discounts?

For solo plans, monthly billing is standard. For schools, annual billing is the default — talk to us via a quote.
