Choosing the right plan

Marking.ai offers a few plans, each pitched at a different level of marking volume. This article gives you the overview so you can pick the one that fits.

The plans at a glance

There are three solo plans plus a School plan. Every plan below includes the full feature set — the difference between the solo tiers is how many submissions you get each month, not which tools you can use.

Starter — $29/month ($290/year)

For light marking volumes — a few classes, occasional assessments. Includes 90 submissions a month and the lowest monthly price.

Pro — $49/month ($490/year)

The most popular plan for individual teachers. 250 submissions a month, full features. Best fit if you’re marking regularly across several classes.

Plus — $89/month ($890/year)

For heavier markers — heads of department, tutors with several classes, or teachers running mock-exam season. 500 submissions a month, full features.

School — sales-led

For whole departments or schools. Annual, with a pooled allowance shared across multiple teachers, plus admin tools for managing your workspace. Pricing is quoted per deal. See Getting a school quote and School plans: how they work.

Monthly or annual?

Solo plans can be billed monthly or annually — there’s a toggle in the plan picker. Annual billing works out to roughly two months free versus paying month to month. Pick whichever suits your budget; you get the same plan either way.

Comparing

The easiest way to compare is in the app:

Open Settings → Billing.
Click Choose a plan (or the plan picker on your cap-reached prompt).
The plan picker shows each plan side by side, with included submissions and price. Use the Monthly / Annual toggle to compare billing terms, and the currency dropdown to view prices in your preferred currency.

How to pick

Three questions to ask yourself:

How many students do you mark each month? Under ~90, Starter covers you. Up to ~250, Pro. Up to ~500, Plus. If you regularly go beyond 500, talk to us about a School plan.
Are you the only one marking, or do colleagues use Marking.ai too? Solo → Starter / Pro / Plus. Team or whole department → School.
Do you have ad-hoc spikes (mock season, end of term)? A Pro plan plus the occasional top-up usually works well.

Trying before committing

New accounts come with a free trial and full features, no card required. You start with 6 free submissions on a personal email address, or 20 if you sign up with a school or work email. FAQs

Can I switch plans later?

Yes — upgrade or downgrade any time from Settings → Billing. See Upgrading or downgrading your plan.

What if I only need a few submissions, very occasionally?

A top-up pack might fit better than a monthly plan. See Top-up packs. Note: top-ups on their own let you mark, and share links and advanced analytics stay available too, but Marko, summaries, insights, and bulk export need an active subscription. See What’s included in each billing state.

Are there annual discounts?

Yes. Solo plans offer both monthly and annual billing, and annual is about two months cheaper than twelve monthly payments. For schools, billing is annual by default — talk to us via a quote.

What currency am I charged in?

Prices display in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, or ZAR, but the actual charge is always in USD. See Currency switching.
