Currency switching (USD, GBP, AUD…)

Marking.ai shows prices in several currencies so they’re easy for you to read. This article explains how the switcher works and what’s actually charged.

Switching the display currency

You can switch the currency Marking.ai shows you in a couple of places:

  • The plan picker — in the dropdown at the top, pick from USD, GBP, AUD, and others
  • The top-up modal — same currency dropdown
  • Settings → Customisation — the Currency section, which sets your default display currency across the app

What the displayed price means

The displayed price is a converted view, calculated from a reference exchange rate. It’s there so you can compare plans in a familiar currency, not for billing accuracy.

What you’re actually charged

The actual charge on your card is always in USD, regardless of which display currency you’ve picked. Your bank or card provider then converts that USD amount to your local currency, using their own exchange rate at the time of the charge.

This means:

  • The displayed price is a guide; the exact local-currency amount on your statement may differ slightly
  • Currency rates change over time, so the displayed price for a plan can shift between months

What about VAT and other taxes?

VAT/sales tax (where applicable) is calculated at checkout based on your billing address. The displayed price doesn’t include it by default — you’ll see the final total at checkout.

FAQs

Why was I charged a different amount than what I saw?

Most commonly your bank’s exchange rate or a tax line. Both are normal. If the difference is significant, drop us a line and we’ll look into it.

Can I be billed in GBP directly?

Not today — the underlying charge is in USD. For schools, we can talk about invoicing arrangements separately.

What currencies are supported?

USD, GBP, AUD, EUR, and a few more in the dropdown. If your currency isn’t listed, USD or GBP is the closest read.
