Adding more submissions to an existing assessment

You don’t need to upload all of your students’ work in one go. You can come back and add more submissions to an assessment at any time — useful when you’re chasing late hand-ins or running a rolling deadline.

How to add more submissions

  1. Open the assessment you want to add submissions to. You can get there from your home page, the Assessments tab, or by asking Marko to take you there.
  2. Click the Upload submissions button at the top right of the assessment detail page.
  3. The same upload area you used the first time opens. Drop in your new files (or share a student upload link from here).

New submissions are added to the same submissions table as your existing ones, so you’ll see everything in one place.

Will the existing submissions be re-marked?

No. Adding new submissions doesn’t affect work that’s already been marked. Marking.ai marks the new submissions only — your existing marks stay exactly as they are.

Marking starts automatically

As soon as your new submissions finish uploading, Marking.ai queues them for marking. You can watch progress in the assessment’s submissions table or on the Activity screen — see Tracking jobs: the Activity screen.

If you’d rather your students upload directly, you can share an upload link instead of (or as well as) uploading on their behalf. See Student upload links for how that works.

FAQs

Is there a limit on how many submissions I can add over time?

There’s no hard limit on submissions per assessment, but each marked submission uses one from your plan. See How submission allowances work.

Can I add a submission after I’ve started sharing results with students?

Yes. Adding a new submission doesn’t affect already-shared results. The new submission goes through its own marking and is yours to review separately.

Can students re-upload their work?

If a student uses an upload link more than once, you’ll see both submissions. You can decide which one to keep — see Deleting submissions.
