Your profile
Your Profile tab in Settings is where you keep your personal info — the kind of detail that helps Marking.ai work well for your teaching context.
Getting there
Click your avatar in the top-right corner of the app and choose Settings. The Profile tab is the default landing page.
Personal info
- First name and Last name — used across the app and on shared reports
- Email — the one you signed up with; can’t be changed here
Teaching context
- Role — classroom teacher, head of department, tutor, etc.
- Country — helps with regional defaults like language dialect and curriculum
- School — your school or organisation’s name (used on branded exports if you set branding)
- Curriculum — the qualification framework you teach (e.g. AQA, IB, OCR)
- Subjects — the subjects you teach — pick all that apply
- Description — a free-form text area for anything else useful — “I teach Year 9–11 Biology in the UK”, for example
These fields aren’t all required, but the more accurate they are, the more Marking.ai can tailor things to you.
Why this matters
Your profile info is used in a few places:
- The marking engine — your curriculum and subjects help Marking.ai pick the right marking strategy for your work.
- Marko — Marko reads your profile so its suggestions feel relevant to your context.
- Shared outputs — your name (and optionally school) appears on shared reports.
Saving your changes
Make your changes, click Save, and you’ll see a confirmation. The new values take effect immediately.
Your avatar
You can upload a profile photo from the same page. Click the avatar at the top, choose an image, and it’ll show in the top-right corner of the app and on shared outputs.

FAQs
Can I change my email address?
Not directly from this page. If you need to change your sign-in email, drop us a line at connect@marking.ai.
Do I have to fill in everything?
No — the more you fill in, the better the personalisation, but blank fields are fine.
Will my school name show to my students?
It can appear on branded exports and student-facing pages if you’ve enabled branding. See Branding settings.
