Exporting a submission report PDF
The Submission report is a full, mark-by-mark PDF version of a student’s marked submission. Where the Student summary is one-page and narrative, the Submission report is the complete record — every question, every mark, every piece of feedback.
What’s on it
A Submission report typically includes:
- The student’s name, the assessment title, and key dates
- The overall score and percentage
- Per question: the question text, the student’s extracted answer, the mark awarded, and your feedback
- Optionally: the marking guide alongside each question
You can choose what to include before downloading.
How to download one
- From the submissions table on an assessment, click the row’s actions menu (or open the Mark details workspace).
- Click Export.
- In the Export dialog, find the Submission Report card.
- Tick the sections you want to include, then click Download PDF.
Marking.ai assembles the PDF on the fly and downloads it.
When to use a Submission report
- Parent-teacher meetings where you want to walk through the marks in detail
- Filing in a gradebook or LMS
- Sharing detailed feedback with a student who’d rather have a PDF than a link
- Compliance — keeping a record of marks and feedback alongside the original work
If you want something more lightweight, use the Student summary instead. See Exporting a student summary PDF.

FAQs
Can I customise the layout of the report?
Not the layout itself, but you can choose what sections to include before downloading.
Will the PDF use my branding?
Yes — if you’ve set a logo and brand colour in Settings → Branding, they appear on the report. See Branding your shared outputs.
What’s the difference between this and the share link?
The share link is interactive and live; the PDF is a snapshot. Both are useful — the link for ongoing access, the PDF for filing and one-off shares.
