Marko gave a wrong answer or did the wrong thing
Marko is usually helpful, but every so often it’ll get something wrong. Here’s how to recover.
Wrong answer to a question
If Marko’s response doesn’t match what’s actually true in your data, the most likely causes are:
- Scope confusion — Marko thought you meant a different assessment or student. Rephrase to name the assessment or student explicitly.
- Misread of an ambiguous query — try a more specific question.
- Genuinely incorrect — Marko occasionally hallucinates or summarises imperfectly.
When this happens:
- Click the links in Marko’s response to verify the underlying data
- If the data is fine but the summary is off, rephrase the question
- If Marko is misreading the data itself, drop us a line at connect@marking.ai with the conversation so we can investigate
Wrong action
If Marko ran an action you didn’t quite mean — e.g. shared the wrong batch, marked the wrong scope — here’s the recovery for each kind:
- Sharing — revoke the links from the submissions in question. See Share link expiry and privacy controls.
- Marking — you can’t undo marks, but you can override them in the Mark details workspace. See Editing a mark.
- Re-marking — the previous AI marks aren’t preserved, but your teacher overrides are kept. If the re-mark is genuinely wrong, edit by hand.
- Deleting — if Marko deleted something by mistake, contact us straight away — we may be able to restore from a recent backup.
Marko shows you a preview before running any non-trivial action — so this should be rare. See How Marko confirms before acting.

FAQs
Will reporting Marko issues make Marko better?
Yes — we look at real conversations (with your permission) and use them to refine prompts, fix tools, and improve scope handling.
Can I disable Marko entirely?
You can simply not use it — the Marko panel is opt-in. If you’d like the avatar removed too, drop us a line.
What about destructive actions — can Marko really delete by mistake?
Marko always confirms before destructive actions. The confirmation step is your safeguard.
