Bulk actions across students
When you’ve got a whole class to tidy up — assign them to a new class, set a year group, archive leavers — the bulk actions on the Students page get it done in one go.
Selecting students
- Click Students in the left-hand sidebar.
- Use the filter controls to narrow the list (by class, year, or search) if you only want to act on some students.
- Tick the checkboxes on the rows you want to act on, or use the header checkbox to select all.
The bulk action toolbar appears at the top once you have at least one row selected.
What you can do in bulk
Assign class
Add the selected students to a class (new or existing). Doesn’t remove them from existing classes — it adds the new class on top.
Set year
Update the year group on every selected student. Useful at the start of an academic year.
Archive
Move the selected students to the archive. Their marks and submissions stay, but they don’t appear in the active Students list. Useful for end-of-year leavers.
Combining filters with bulk actions
The combination of filters + bulk actions is the workhorse here. Examples:
- Filter by year “Year 11” → select all → archive (when they leave)
- Filter by class “10B Bio” → select all → set year to “Year 11” (year transition)
- Search for a class name → select all → assign new class “Set 1” (regrouping)
Undoing bulk actions
Most bulk actions can be reversed with another bulk action:
- Bulk archived someone by mistake? Filter to Archived, select them, and unarchive
- Bulk assigned to the wrong class? Edit individuals via their detail pages to remove the class
Nothing is permanently lost in a bulk action — these are reversible.

FAQs
Can I bulk-delete students?
We don’t expose a destructive bulk-delete — archive is the equivalent and it’s reversible. If you genuinely need records gone, drop us a line.
Will bulk actions affect existing marks?
No — bulk actions on students don’t touch their marks or submissions. They just update the student record fields.
What’s the max number of students I can act on at once?
No hard limit — you can bulk-act on hundreds of students at once.
