What students see

When you share a marked submission, your student lands on a clean, dedicated results page. This article gives you a look at it.

The page at a glance

A student opens the share link in their browser — no account needed — and sees:

  • Their name and the assessment title
  • Their overall score and percentage
  • A question-by-question breakdown, with their answer, the mark you (or the AI) gave, and the feedback
  • Optionally the marking guide for context

It’s clean, focused, and built so a student can read through it without confusion.

What’s visible — and what you control

You choose how much detail to show. From Settings → Customisation, under What’s visible, you can toggle whether the student-facing page includes:

  • Feedback — your per-question feedback text
  • Breakdown — marks awarded for each question
  • Marking guide — the original mark scheme alongside each question

Defaults apply to all new share links; you can override them per link if needed.

What’s not shown

A few things students never see:

  • Other students’ work or marks
  • Internal confidence indicators
  • The AI’s chain-of-thought reasoning
  • Any teacher-only notes

In other words, the student sees the output of marking — not how Marking.ai got there.

Your branding

If you’ve set up branding (school logo and colour), the student-facing page picks it up automatically — logo in the header, your primary colour as the accent. See Branding your shared outputs.

The student sees a clear “This link has expired” message. If they need re-access, generate a fresh link from your side — see Sharing a marked submission with a student.

If a link has been revoked, the student sees a “This link has been revoked” message.

FAQs

Can students reply to the feedback?

Not directly on the page. If you want a discussion, share the link plus a comment thread in whatever tool you’re using (email, LMS, chat).

Does the page work on a phone?

Yes — it’s designed mobile-first. Most students will open the link on their phones.

Can a student download their feedback as a PDF?

Yes — the page includes a download option that gives them a one-page PDF summary. You can also send them a Submission report PDF directly. See Exporting a submission report PDF.
