Bulk-sharing a whole class

If you’ve just finished marking a whole class, sharing every result one by one is the slow way. The bulk share action generates a link for each student in one go and gives you a CSV with the lot.

This article walks you through it.

Where to find it

  1. Open your assessment.
  2. From the submissions table, select the students you want to share with (or select all).
  3. In the bulk action toolbar that appears, click Share.

The Share results in bulk dialog opens.

What happens when you run it

Marking.ai:

  • Generates a fresh share link for every selected submission (even if you’ve shared with that student before — every line in the CSV gets a current, working link)
  • Sets each link to your default share settings (visibility + expiry)
  • Produces a CSV with student name, email (if set), and their personal link

The CSV downloads as soon as the job finishes.

Open the CSV in your tool of choice and use mail-merge, your LMS bulk-message feature, or a paste-into-chat workflow to deliver each link to the right student.

The links are unique per student, so don’t mix them up — if a student gets someone else’s link, they’d see that other student’s marks.

What if I only want to share with some students?

Use the filter and selection controls in the submissions table to narrow down before running the bulk share. Filter by class, by score range, by status, or by anything else — the bulk action only generates links for what’s currently selected.

FAQs

Marking.ai regenerates fresh links for every student in the bulk. Older links to the same submissions stop working. This is on purpose — it stops you from accidentally distributing stale links from older runs.

Does bulk share work for students who haven’t been linked to a name?

It prefers students with a linked name (so the right student gets the right link). For unlinked submissions, link them first — see Linking a submission to a student.

Can I bulk share before everything’s been marked?

You can, but only marked submissions can be opened from the link — unmarked submissions show a “not ready” state. Wait until marking is done for the cleanest send.
