Exporting a student summary PDF

The Student summary is a one-page, AI-written PDF that distils a student’s submission into a short, teacher-friendly report. It’s quick, scannable, and easy to share with the student, a parent, or your colleagues.

What’s on it

A student summary PDF typically includes:

  • The student’s name, the assessment title, and the date
  • Their overall score and percentage
  • A short narrative summary of what they did well
  • A short narrative summary of what to focus on next
  • A breakdown of their marks across questions

It’s not a full mark-by-mark report — if you want every detail, use the Submission report PDF instead. See Exporting a submission report PDF.

How to download one

  1. From the submissions table on an assessment, click the row’s actions menu (or open the Mark details workspace).
  2. Click Export.
  3. In the Export dialog, find the Student Summary card and click Download PDF.

The PDF is generated on the fly and downloads to your computer.

Sharing the summary

The summary is a regular PDF, so you can:

  • Email it to the student
  • Attach it to a parent meeting note
  • File it in your gradebook or LMS
  • Print it for a parent-teacher conference

What about branding?

If you’ve set up branding in Settings → Branding, your school logo and primary colour appear on the PDF. See Branding your shared outputs.

FAQs

Can I edit the summary before sharing?

Not directly — the summary is generated from the student’s marks and feedback when you click Download. If you want to refine it, edit the underlying marks and feedback first (see Editing AI feedback), then download again.

How is the summary different from the Submission report?

The summary is a short narrative — one page, focused on key points. The Submission report is the full, mark-by-mark version with everything in detail.

Can I bulk-export student summaries for the whole class?

Yes — use the Class Summaries bulk export from the assessment’s Export dialog. It generates one PDF per student in one go.
